SEATTLE, WA — If you've seen an advertisement offering 40 percent discounts at Starbucks for undocumented immigrants, it's a hoax. Starbucks has said that the ads are "100 percent fake." The ads state that Starbucks is holding a "Dreamer Day" on Aug. 11, which is the alleged occasion for the coffee discount.
The fake ads were, according to reports, created and first circulated on 4Chan, a notorious haven for trolls and bullies. The forum where the ads originated is filled with racist, anti-Semitic and anti-left invective. The creators of the ads appear to want to create "havoc" at Starbucks locations to anger the chain's left-leaning clientele.
"I vote we call ICE on 'em. Send 'em packin' when they just wanted free coffee," one anonymous person wrote.
And although "Dreamer Day" is not real, Starbucks is giving away free Macchiato drinks on Monday. From 2 to 5 p.m., the chain will give you a free Macchiato for every one you buy. The promotion is in honor of National Friendship Day, which was Sunday. Image via Patch/Neal McNamaraThanks for your feedback! Now share it with your friends! Thanks for your feedback.
