MATTESON, IL -- A Robbins police officer and his girlfriend have been charged on disorderly conduct counts after police in Matteson said the two fabricated a story about a baby who was found abandoned near a dumpster just blocks from the Old Plank Road Trail Thursday night. Media reports indicate part-time Robbins probationary officer Justin Jones is the biological father of the baby and that he and live-in girlfriend Kendra Branch, 25, drew up the story about the abandoned infant in order to get the boy's mother in trouble.
Initial reports surfaced Friday that a woman heard a baby crying in the 3700 block of 214th Street and found a 6 to 9-month-old boy who appeared to be well cared for although he had a soiled diaper and wet socks. ABC-7 reports the woman who reported the incident turned out to be Branch, who lives in an apartment near the area where the child was found.

Both Branch and Jones denied repeatedly knowing the child, according to the Daily Southtown. Charges against them are allegedly for "creating an atmosphere of discord within the community." Their reason for concocting the story in order to get the mother in trouble with the Department of Child and Family Services was "out of spite," police said. Jones has been placed on administrative leave with the Robbins Police Department, reports indicate. Thanks for your feedback! Now share it with your friends! Thanks for your feedback.
