BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating a Facebook post advertising a Muslim child for sale on a community group page that authorities believe was a hoax.
The post described a 3-year-old for sale on the Burlington NJ Yard/Garage Sale Facebook page. Police received multiple calls about the post, which has since been taken down and the user’s profile removed, Lt. Jim Sullivan said.
“Obviously it’s an inappropriate post,” Sullivan said. “Everything leads us to believe it was a hoax.”
Police believe the user was not from the area.
Residents who see inappropriate posts on social media are urged to call the police at 609-386-2019.
