THOUSANDS of Somerset Facebook users were tricked today after a fake social media account shared an offensive post warning residents that pushchairs were no longer allowed on First Bus services.
The post was shared by parody Facebook group, First Buses yesterday night (August 17) and has been shared more than 12,000 and has got more than 17,000 reactions on Facebook.
The post made offensive remarks about mothers and their children and confused residents by saying pushchairs were no longer allowed on their services.
The post said: "Passengers please be aware that as of September 1 2017, all prams and pushchairs will be banned on all services
"Buggies and prams will still be allowed, provided they are folded up.
"We trust these measures meet with the approval of our loyal patrons."
The Buses of Somerset posted on social media to inform its customers that the post was a hoax in an effort to reassure customers that pushchairs will still be accepted on their services.
"There is a hoax post being shared on Facebook, stating that First plan to ban prams and pushchairs from September 1 2017.
"We can confirm that this is not true, passengers with prams and pushchairs can continue to use our services " the spokesman said.
